Terms of Use

Last updated October 14, 2026

These terms cover your use of WaxSnap. By using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use WaxSnap.

What WaxSnap does

WaxSnap identifies vinyl records from a photo and helps you catalog a collection, look up album details and estimated values, and create Spotify playlists. It is a tool for personal use by record collectors.

Your account and content

You may use WaxSnap with a Google or Apple account, or anonymously. You are responsible for the photos and content you add. Only snap photos you have the right to take, and do not upload anything unlawful, infringing, or offensive. You keep ownership of your content; you grant us permission to store and process it solely to provide the app to you.

Accuracy of identification and values

Album identification, metadata, and estimated market values are provided for convenience and can be wrong or incomplete. Estimated values come from third-party data and are not appraisals or an offer to buy or sell. Do not rely on them for financial decisions.

Third-party services

WaxSnap works with third parties including OpenAI, Discogs, Spotify, Google, and Apple. Your use of connected services, such as Spotify, is also governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services or their content.

Acceptable use

Do not abuse, overload, reverse-engineer, or attempt to disrupt WaxSnap or its underlying services, and do not use it to break the law. We apply rate limits to keep the service available for everyone.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings. This is permanent and cannot be undone. See our Privacy Policy for details on what is removed.

WaxSnap Premium subscriptions

WaxSnap includes a free allowance of successful album identifications and a free collection of a limited number of records (currently 20). Only successful identifications count against the allowance: failed, unmatched, and low-confidence results are never charged, and barcode scanning and manual search never use it. Once the allowance is used, continued identification requires WaxSnap Premium, and so does adding records to a free collection that is full, however they are added. Records already in your collection stay visible and usable whether or not you subscribe, including a collection that already holds more.

Premium is offered in the iOS app as an auto-renewing subscription at $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year, and as a one-time Lifetime purchase at $59.99. Prices are in US dollars and may differ in other storefronts; the price shown at purchase is the price charged.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. An auto-renewing subscription renews automatically unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings after purchase; the Lifetime purchase does not renew. Canceling stops future renewals and access continues to the end of the period already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms, not by WaxSnap; a refunded purchase ends Premium access.

Availability and changes

WaxSnap is provided as-is, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We may update these terms; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Disclaimer and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WaxSnap is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Profiles and what you share

If you make a public profile, you choose what it shows and you are responsible for it. Do not post objectionable content, including hate, harassment, sexual content, violence, or anything illegal, and do not pretend to be someone else. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users.

Anyone signed in to WaxSnap can follow a public profile, and following is public. When you follow someone, you appear in their Followers list and they appear in your Following list, and anyone who can see either profile, in the app or on the web, can open those lists. If you do not have a public profile, you appear only as a number, never by name. Nobody is sent an alert when you follow them. A public profile always shows its Followers and Following lists, and you can remove a follower from yours whenever you like.

Anyone can report a profile from the menu on its page, in the app or on the web, or by emailing us at the address below, and we review every report within 24 hours. You can also block a profile from the same menu: it disappears from your WaxSnap at once, and we are told so we can review it. If you are signed in, a block also ends any follow between you, both ways, and stops that person following you again. We remove content and accounts that break these rules.
